Dr. Patel earned his Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery from Smt. NHL Municipal Medical College, Gujarat University in India. He completed his Internal Medicine at New York Medical College, NY, where he served as Chief Resident in 2003-2004. Following his residency Dr. Patel completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in New York. After his training he moved to the woodlands in private practice.
He is board certified in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Diseases, Nuclear Cardiology, Echocardiography and Internal Medicine.
Dr. Patel specializes in coronary intervention and peripheral vascular inventions. Dr. Patel recognizes himself as a radialist because of his expertise in trans-radial approach for coronary and peripheral interventions. Major benefits of trans-radial approach over traditional femoral artery approach include a significatly lower rate of bleeding complications as well as earlier ambulation and recovery. The most important is “all his patients love it”.
His other expertise includes renal artery angioplasty, evaluation and treatment of lower extremity peripheral artery diseases including percutaneous limb salvage interventions and treatment of vascular non-healing foot ulcers. He has participated in several large multi-center clinical trials. His research interest includes trans-radial approach, peripheral artery disease (tibio-peroneal interventions), women and heart disease, and acute myocardial infarction.
